This mystic phrase was popular among Basilides' Gnostic sect, which was established in the second century A.D. 


  • The number 365, the number of days in a year, was represented by Abraxas in Greek numerology. 
  • This was also the total number of spirits emanating from God. 
  • The word Abraxas, carved on stones or jewels, was thought to have a mysterious meaning by occultists.

(ABRASAX) Abraxas is a variant of abraxas, a symbolic term that may be traced back to Basilides of Alexandria, who used it as a divinity's title. 


  • The seven letters in Greek numeration add up to 365, the number of days in a solar year, which symbolizes a cycle of divine activity.
