Hinduism - Who Are The Maharashtri Brahmins?

The Pancha Dravida community is one of five southern Indian brahmin groups (the others being Gujarati, Karnata, Andhra, and Dravida).

The contemporary state of Maharashtra is the primary territory for Maharashtri brahmins, as their name suggests.

The Maharashtri brahmins are split into two groups: the Chitpavan, or Konkanastha brahmins, who reside along the coast, and the Deshastha brahmins, who live in the Deccan.
