Hinduism And Hindu Theology - Where Are The Aravalli Hills?

The Aravalli Hills are a group of mountains in India. A series of hills that runs diagonally from Rajasthan's southern to northeastern corners.

  • They are significant because of their physical properties, which have a significant impact on the environment.
  • The terrain descends gradually towards the Thar desert on the northern side of the hills, and is dry and little inhabited.
  • The hills on the southern side provide greater shelter.

As a consequence, the terrain on the southern side is greener and more fertile than on the northern side.

The town of Pushkar, with its holy lake, as well as the temple dedicated to Balaji in the hamlet of Mehndipur, are sacred places (tirthas) in the Aravallis.
