Hinduism And Hindu Theology - What Is Asat?

This term, which is frequently translated as "nonbeing," refers to a broad category in Indian speculative thinking.

  • It's the polar opposite of sat, and it's created by adding a negative prefix.
  • If sat means "that which (really and genuinely) exists," its antonym is "that which does not exist."
  • Asat has implications of falseness since the word sat also has connotations of truth—that things that exist are both "real" and "true."
