Hinduism - Where Is Kandariya Mahadev Temple?

The biggest of the temples in the Madhya Pradesh state of Khajuraho.

It is devoted to Shiva as "Skanda's Lord" at his mani festival; Skanda is another deity who is regarded Shiva's son and the leader of Shiva's army.

Between 1025 and 1050, monarchs of the Chandella dynasty constructed the Kandariya Mahadev temple.

It was built near the close of the creative surge that gave birth to all of the Khajuraho temples.

All of the temple's lower towers lead to and culminate in one central tower immediately above the sanctuary, making it the best-developed example of the Khajuraho branch of the Nagara architectural style.

The Kandariya Mahadev temple, like most of the temples in Khajuraho, is covered with sensual sculpture, either as a sign of oneness with the divine, or perhaps as a religious embrace of all aspects of human life.
