Hinduism - What Is A Nakshatra?

A nakshatra is one of the twenty-seven signs of the lunar zodiac in Indian astrology (jyotisha).

The moon passes through each of the twenty-seven lunar houses in a single lunar month.

The lunar houses' domain is evenly distributed around the solar zodiac, with 2.25 lunar houses for each of the twelve sun signs.

In Indian astrology, the nakshatras are significant not just because they change quickly, but also because the characteristics and attributes connected with each nakshatra are said to color the time period in which they fall.

The Panchak Nakshatra, a set of five nakshatras, is regarded highly unlucky, and many activities will be halted until this time has gone.

Certain nakshatras are said to be incompatible with daily activities and should be avoided at that period.

Hindus who follow astrology are acutely aware of the passage of time and the value of each individual moment.
