Hinduism - What Is Hemp Or Charas? Who Is Allowed To Consume It On Grounds Of Religious Exemption?

Cannibus indica, more widely known as marijuana, is referred to as hemp.

The plant's long fibers were formerly employed in the production of rope and textiles.

It is mostly utilized for its narcotic qualities in modern times, either by crushing and processing the leaves to form bhang or by harvesting the plant's resins to manufacture hashish (charas).

Hemp is banned to use as a narcotic save at particular places and periods, such as pilgrimage sites and festivals.

Many ascetics, however, continue to use hashish on a daily basis.
