A Hymn to Diana

A Hymn to Diana

☽O☾

_moonspirit960

Statue of Diana as "The Spirit of Progress" atop a former Montgomery Ward administration building in Chicago,
silhouetted against the second night of a Harvest Moon

Queene, and Huntresse, chaste, and faire,
..Now the Sunne is laid to sleepe,
Seated, in thy silver chaire,
..State in wonted manner keepe:
Hesperus intreats thy light,
Goddesse, excellently bright.

Earth, let not thy envious shade
..Dare it selfe to interpose;
Cynthias shining orbe was made
..Heaven to cleere, when day did close:
Blesse us then with wishèd sight,
Goddesse, excellently bright.

Lay thy bow of pearle apart,
..And thy crystall-shining quiver;
Give unto the flying hart
..Space to breathe, how short soever:
Thou that mak'st a day of night,
Goddesse, excellently bright.

~Written by Ben Jonson (1572-1617):

Hymn to <3 Diana

From Cynthias Revells (1601), Act V, Scene vi

A Beautiful Moon-rise

Dedicating this to...

'A Beautiful Moon-rise... '

☽O☾

True & just my Lady fair
Her beauty does unfold tonight
As secret whispers part Her lips
Her Mysteries wait to kiss our hearts

Charging high atop the clouds
Before our Goddess shining bright
...We dance around making sound!
With Circles left open... that stay unbroken
Her love and praises guard it this night

Lovely, round, bright, & sound
Dearest Full Moon shine your beauty down
& Wrap us warm in your silken gown

Love to you, My Dear Mother Moon
Guide us, & Nourish us
With your gentle rays

Goddess of mine,
Goddess of yours
Goddess of ours...

Blessed be!!!

Words & Prayers: Attributed to St. Patrick

I bind unto myself today

I bind unto myself today

the strong Name of the Trinity,

by invocation of the same,

the Three in One, and One in Three.

I bind this day to me for ever,

by power of faith, Christ's Incarnation;

his baptism in Jordan river;

his death on cross for my salvation;

his bursting from the spicèd tomb;

his riding up the heavenly way;

his coming at the day of doom:

I bind unto myself today.

I bind unto myself the power

of the great love of cherubim;

the sweet "Well done" in judgment hour;

the service of the seraphim;

confessors' faith, apostles' word,

the patriarchs' prayers, the prophets' scrolls;

all good deeds done unto the Lord,

and purity of virgin souls.

I bind unto myself today

the virtues of the starlit heaven

the glorious sun's life-giving ray,

the whiteness of the moon at even,

the flashing of the lightning free,

the whirling wind's tempestuous shocks,

the stable earth, the deep salt sea,

around the old eternal rocks.

I bind unto myself today

the power of God to hold and lead,

his eye to watch, his might to stay,

his ear to hearken, to my need;

the wisdom of my God to teach,

his hand to guide, his shield to ward;

the word of God to give me speech,

his heavenly host to be my guard.

Christ be with me,

Christ within me,

Christ behind me,

Christ before me,

Christ beside me,

Christ to win me,

Christ to comfort

and restore me.

Christ beneath me,

Christ above me,

Christ in quiet,

Christ in danger,

Christ in hearts of

all that love me,

Christ in mouth of

friend and stranger.

I bind unto myself today

the strong Name of the Trinity,

by invocation of the same,

the Three in One, and One in Three.

Of whom all nature hath creation,

eternal Father, Spirit, Word:

praise to the Lord of my salvation,

salvation is of Christ the Lord.

Words: attributed to St. Patrick (372-466);

Prayer for the Faithful by Saint Patrick

 May the Strength of God guide us.

May the Power of God preserve us.

May the Wisdom of God instruct us.

May the Hand of God protect us.

May the Way of God direct us.

May the Shield of God defend us.

May the Angels of God guard us.

- Against the snares of the evil one.

May Christ be with us!

May Christ be before us!

May Christ be in us,

Christ be over all!

May Thy Grace, Lord,

Always be ours,

This day, O Lord, and forevermore.

Amen.

May our Saint be like a lamp, dispelling the darkness of ignorance.

& May the Light of the Lord always guide you ...now & forever......

I wish You All Blessings of Love, Light & Peace this St. Patrick's Day
