Hinduism And Hindu Theology - What Is An Amalaki Ekadashi?

The eleventh day (ekadashi) of the bright (waxing) half of the lunar month of Phalgun (February–March) is celebrated as a festival.

  • This is devoted to the worship of Vishnu, as are all eleventh-day observances.
  • Most Hindu holidays have specified rituals, which typically include fasting (upavasa) and devotion, and frequently promise particular rewards if they are followed faithfully.
  • On this day, one should worship the amvala tree, which is said to be one of the locations where Vishnu resides.
