Hinduism And Hindu Theology - Who Is Aryabhatta?

Ancient Indian astronomer and mathematician, whose most famous work was written around 499 C.E.

  • His ideas that the earth was a sphere that revolved on its axis and that eclipses were produced by the moon's shadow were among Aryabhatta's achievements.
  • He also computed the length of the year to seven decimal places and the value of pi to four decimal places.
  • Both of these accomplishments demonstrate a mastery of mathematics as well as the usage of the zero.

Although Aryabhatta is regarded as a scientist, there was no distinction between astronomer and astrologer in the ancient world.

His astronomical findings would have been utilized in the area of astrology, given the belief that the celestial bodies affected human affairs.
