Hinduism - Who Are The Dhangars?

A collection of endogamous subgroups known as jatis ("birth") served as the paradigm for old Indian society.

The group's hereditary occupation, over which each group held a monopoly, was how these jatis were structured (and how their social rank was decided).

The Dhangars were a Hindu jati whose ancestral vocation was herding sheep and goats in ancient central Indian culture.

They are especially linked with the Maharashtra state.
