Hinduism - Who Was Nigantha Nataputta?

Nigantha Nataputta  is a person from early Indian philosophy whose beliefs are documented in Buddhist texts.

Although these texts provide no additional evidence of Nigantha's beliefs, he promoted a four-fold self-restraint.

It is widely assumed that Nigantha and Mahavira were the same person.

Mahavira is said to be the last of the Jain tirthankaras, the religious tradition's foundational figures.
