Hinduism - What Is Nirvikalpaka In Hindu Philosophy?

Nirvikalpaka is the word for a kind of basic non-conceptual consciousness produced only by the action of the senses in various schools of Indian philosophy, including the Buddhists, the Nyayas, and the Prabhakara school of Mimamsa.

According to these schools, an awareness is deemed to be real if the senses that produce it are free of flaws.

However, the mind's activity might cause it to be misconstrued or misread.

This notion has significant implications for mistake theories, which attempt to explain how erroneous judgements might occur.

The schools that subscribed to this philosophy ascribed mistake to mental activity.
