Hinduism - What Is Bhujangavalaya?

Bhujangavalaya means "snake bracelet" in Hindi.

The name of a specific jewelry worn by the deity Shiva in Hindu imagery.

  • A snake-shaped bracelet is known as the bhujangavalaya.

  • Shiva is known in Hindu mythology for wearing serpents, particularly cobras, as decorations on his arms and chest.
  • This is only one of the characteristics that distinguishes him as unique, strong, and perhaps deadly.
  • This practice has been continued in the prescriptive canons for the production of Hindu pictures, and Shiva is always shown wearing these serpent bands.
