Hinduism - Where Are The Govardhan Mountains?

Govardhan is a sacred mountain in the state of Uttar Pradesh, located in the western section of the Mathura district.

According to Hindu legend, this was the mountain that the deity Krishna used as an umbrella to shelter the people of Braj from the storms brought on by Indra, the god of the storm.

According to the Pushti Marg, a religious group formed by Vallabhacharya (1479–1531), Vallabhacharya discovered a special figure of Krishna known as Shrinathji atop Mount Govardhan after Krishna revealed its location to the saint in a dream.
