Hinduism - What Is Naimittika Karma?

("every now and then [ritual] activity") Nitya karma and kamya karma are the other two categories of general ritual activity.

Naimittika karma rituals are based on a specific cause (naimittika); when certain conditions happen, the ritual must be performed.

When a kid is born, for example, specific ceremonies must be performed.

The rite, however, is not essential until a birth has occurred.
