Hinduism - Where Is Dehu?

Dehu is a town in Maharashtra's Pune district, 65 km east and south of Bombay.

It is best known as the birthplace of poet-saint Tukaram, one of the Varkari Panth's most important figures.

The Varkaris are a religious community centered on the Hindu god Vithoba, who is worshipped at his temple in Pandharpur, Maharashtra.

The main focus of Varkari religious practice is two annual pilgrimages in which all participants arrive in Pandharpur on the same day.

Tukaram still makes a symbolic trip to Pandharpur twice a year, with a palanquin (palkhi) carrying his sandals at the head of the procession.
