Hinduism - What Is Suchi Hasta?

The union of Shiva and Shakti in the aspirant's body mirrors the action of these divine forces in the macrocosm, and with this union, the Suchi Hasta.

A hand gesture (hasta) in Indian dance, sculpture, and ritual in which the hand is closed save for the index finger, which is pointed downward to signify something to the spectator.

The term suchi literally means "needle," but it comes from a verb that may mean "to penetrate" or "to signal," both of which suggest a concentration on a specific location.
