A class of demigods who are heavenly singers and musicians
in Hindu mythology.

The power to give wonderful singing voices to females is one
of their heavenly endowments.
The Gandharvas are considered witnesses in a Gandharva
marriage, one of the eight types of marriage authorized in dharma literature,
since they are continually observing from above.
Consensual sexual intercourse was used to contract the
gandharva marriage.
