Martand is a village in Jammu and Kashmir, some forty miles southeast of the state capital, Shrinagar.
Martand is a historic architectural monument primarily known
for its temple to the sun deity, which was constructed in the ninth century.
The temple remains are located in an alpine meadow with
breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.
