The birth mother of Balarama, the divinity Krishna's brother, according to Hindu legend.
Balarama was born in an unusual way.
The fetus is mysteriously transferred from Devaki's womb to
Rohini's after he is conceived.
This is done to keep him safe, since Devaki's evil uncle
Kamsa has already slain Devaki's previous seven children and would undoubtedly
kill Balarama if she carries him to term.
