Valmiki Jayanti is a Hindu festival commemorating the birth
of Valmiki.
On the full moon in the lunar month of Ashvin
(September–October), a festival is held.
This day is said to be the birthday of the poet Valmiki, the
author of the Ramayana, the first of the two Sanskrit epics, according to
legend.
