Hinduism And Hindu Theology - Who Is Achyuta?

Achyuta means “imperishable” and is a common reference to the personified quality of the Hindu God, Vishnu.

  • Vishnu's epithet, alluding to followers' (bhakta) conviction that nothing can stand in the way of Vishnu's strength, which would never wane.
  • Hindu deities are known by a variety of names, some of which refer to the deity's distinctive appearance, while others refer to a specific attribute.
  • There will never be two deities with the same epithet.

The abundance of deity names may be due in part to the Sanskrit language's abundance of synonyms.

This enables words to be arranged in a variety of poetic meters.
