Hinduism - What Is Ayudhapurusha?

According to the gender of the Sanskrit term, an ayudhapurusha is the personified form of a heavenly weapon or symbol, which may be masculine, feminine, or neuter.

  • Shakti (“spear”) and gada (“club”), for example, are feminine, chakra (“discus”) is neuter, while khadga (“sword”) and trishul (“trident”) are masculine.
