Hinduism - What Is Consecration In Hindu Rituals?

Consecration is the term used to describe the act of dedicating something.

This phrase may refer to two distinct rituals that are conducted when Hindu pictures are created.

One of them is devapratishtha, or "establishing the god," which refers to the rituals of constructing and establishing a deity's image as a worship object.

The more significant rite of pranapratishtha, in which the picture is infused with the breath of life and becomes the deity's throne, is also referred to as consecration.
