Guru Purnima is a
Hindu festival commemorating the birth of the Guru.
The full moon (purnima) in the lunar month of Ashadh
(June–July) is a religious feast.
Guru Purnima is a day to honor and appreciate one's guru, a
term that originally referred to a religious preceptor but is today used to any
instructor, counsel, or mentor.
A young man is supposed to spend his youth as a member of
his guru's family, getting accommodation, board, and teaching, according to the
dharma literature.
In exchange, he pledges allegiance and loyalty to his guru.
On Guru Purnima, a master's pupils are instructed to
enshrine and worship their guru as a god, providing gifts and fees as
appropriate.
Depending on the sort of guru they have, modern Hindus
commemorate this day in a variety of ways.
Despite the fact that certain religious preceptors are
enshrined and worshipped, this is not always the case.
Modern Hindus, on the other hand, continue to revere and pay
tribute to their professors on this day.
The full moon on this day is connected with completeness and
perfection, which are attributes that gurus are said to possess.
Because the sage Vyasa was regarded as a great teacher, this day is also known as Vyas Purnima.
