("Three-stream") The confluence of the Ganges and
Yamuna Rivers in the city of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, is known by this name.
Despite the fact that only two rivers can be seen at the
confluence, the term Triveni derives from the notion that they are connected by
a third river, the Saraswati, which runs underground and is not visible to the
human eye.
